Aberdeen Coastguard rescue team's patch or guard stretches from Balmedie (NJ 978 183) in the North
to Doonie point (NO 901 910), just south of Muchalls, in the South. This is some 25 miles of coastline.

The type of coastline varies significantly from sandy beaches to sheer granite cliffs.
The area also includes Aberdeen Harbour and the helicopter landing site at Aberdeen Royal infirmary.
